My Story

My name is Johan Latsky, and CoreSifu is built on my personal journey into health, fitness, and discipline.

Growing up in Stellenbosch, South Africa, I was always fairly athletic and loved to run around. Although later years got a bit lazy in the sports and exercise department until after school.

 

There was a time when I was unfit, low on energy, and unsure of how to take control of my health. Like many people, I tried different approaches without fully understanding how the body actually works. Progress felt inconsistent, and it was difficult to know what truly made a difference.

That changed when I began to focus less on quick results and more on understanding the fundamentals—how the body produces energy, how recovery works, and how consistent habits shape long-term health.

From Curiosity to Understanding

This shift led me to study science more deeply, eventually earning a Bachelor of Science degree. Through this, I built a strong foundation in biology and physiology—knowledge that helped me make sense of what actually drives energy, performance, and recovery.

At the same time, I committed to physical training, including martial arts, where discipline, consistency, and structure became part of my daily life. These experiences reinforced an important lesson: real progress comes from aligning your actions with how your body is designed to function.

Experience and Background

My approach is built on both education and real-world experience.

  • Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree
  • 2nd Dan Black Belt in Karate
  • Judo (currently green belt)
  • Years of practical training, running, and fitness development

This combination allows me to approach health and fitness from both a scientific and practical perspective—focusing on what is effective, realistic, and sustainable.

I was always interested in biology at school and the physiology of the body and how it functions. After school, I attended the University of Stellenbosch and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree BScAgric in Animal Science & Conservation Ecology.
